Explore the wonders of watercolor painting and learn the fundamental techniques of this exciting medium. This is a beginning-to-intermediate class intended to introduce students to the medium while also presenting advanced techniques. Some previous drawing and painting experience recommended. Basic class lessons and demonstrations will focus on getting students comfortable with painting techniques and enjoying the process of painting. The instructor will describe in detail the basic materials used and the three stages that make up a watercolor painting. You will also learn brush techniques, mixing colors, value studies, and discuss initial drawing techniques. Essential watercolor supplies will be provided along with a supply list if you wish to purchase your own.
The workshop will consist of four two-hour classes. Days and hours are Tuesdays, 4:00 – 6:00 at River Falls Community Arts Base, Riverwalk Square, 127 N. Main, River Falls, WI. Classes start on March 7 and run four consecutive weeks. The cost for the entire class is $85.
