Let’s kick off 2024 with a fresh approach to art! Art’s House Gallery and Gift Boutique is reimagining trash. Do you have an idea that brings new life to waste in unexpected, perhaps beautiful, ways? Art’s house is offering three holiday gift-making classes in November and December, one each on making a decoupage coaster, circular woven ornament, and wire-wrapped ring.

Congratulations to Anthony Jagg, recipient of the 2023 Steve Preisler Memorial Scholarship. Anthony is a graduating senior at River Falls High School, and he will attend UW River Falls in the fall as a graphic design major.

Art’s House Gallery is inviting artists to our annual Holiday Gift Boutique! We’re looking for a variety of unique, hand-crafted media from painting, photography and printmaking to ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, glass and fiber arts.

This is a beginning to intermediate watercolor class intended to introduce students to the medium while also presenting advanced techniques.

Classes will be held on Thursdays, October 19, 26, November 2, and 9 from 6–8 p.m.

The August 3 Music in the Park show with Pickled Beats will be from 6-8pm, an hour earlier than originally scheduled.

CAB is proud to sponsor trumpeter Ava Redmond, a member of the 2023 Kids From Wisconsin cast. They’ll be performing Friday, July 28, at the Melvin Wall Amphitheater at UWRF from 7-9pm. The performance is free.

As part of River Falls Days, Marg Downing will lead a walking arts tour at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning at City Hall Plaza, 215 W. Maple St.

The two Music in the Park concerts scheduled for City Hall Plaza (Joyann Parker on July 27 and Charlie Parr on August 24) will now be held at The Garage Bikes + Brews, at 109 W Cedar St., a couple of blocks away from City Hall. All other Music in the Park concerts will be at our usual Veterans Park location.

This weaving series is designed to introduce or strengthen basic weaving skills. Participants will learn to use everyday materials so they can keep weaving without specialized equipment even after our time together is through! Materials are provided.

The City of River Falls, WI is accepting proposals from artists or teams of artists who would like to be considered for a free-standing exterior installation located at the City’s historic Glen Park, 355 West Park Street. The artist(s) will design, fabricate, and install the artwork within Glen Park.

Applications are open through June 20 for Rural Regenerative Fellowships. The fellowship offers a comprehensive two-year program that connects rural artists, makers, culture bearers and organizers across the Midwest, sharing opportunities for peer learning and exchange. Music in the Park returns to River Falls on June 1. Concerts will be every Thursday evening through August (except July 13). Read about it in the River Falls Journal and visit the Music in the Park page for details.

Due to the potential for bad weather, the April Meet the Artists Event is cancelled.

Art on the Kinni still has space for more artists. The deadline is May 1.

If you want to sell some of your art, consider renting a space at Art on the Kinni. If this is your first time, you might feel better sharing a booth with an artist friend. There aren’t many art fairs with a less expensive booth fee. If you do share a booth, both artists must send in pictures of the items they plan to sell for approval because it is a juried art fair.
